
About Principal
Prof. (Dr.) Arundeep Kaur Lamba, Director – Principal Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences is a distinguished academician and clinician with over 34 years of teaching and clinical experience in the field of Periodontics. A graduate and postgraduate of Punjab Government Dental College & Hospital, Amritsar, she earned numerous accolades during her academic journey, including 16 medals and distinctions in Periodontics and General Surgery.
As the Former Head of the Department of Periodontics at Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS), New Delhi, Dr. Arundeep has consistently demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence, clinical innovation, and public service. Under her leadership, the department has incorporated advanced techniques such as lasers and dental implants, ensuring that cutting-edge treatments are accessible to underprivileged patients at minimal or no cost.
Her contributions to medical sciences have been recognized nationally. She is a Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), the apex academic body in India for medical sciences.
In 2017, she received the prestigious “State Award” from the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of NCT of Delhi.
She was also honored with a “Trophy of Appreciation” by the Chief Minister of Delhi for her role in achieving NABH accreditation for MAIDS, making it the first dental institution in India to attain this distinction.
As the Nodal Officer for the Kaya Kalp initiative under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, she was honored with an Award for excellence in implementing the Kaya Kalp Programme. Dr. Arundeep has played a pivotal role in promoting cleanliness and hygiene within the institution.
As the Academic Officer, she was instrumental in launching the MDS program at MAIDS in 2007 and has since supervised over 35 postgraduate students.
A visionary in regenerative periodontal therapy, Dr. Arundeep established the Central Tissue Bank at MAIDS—one of the first of its kind in India to meet international standards. The bank prepares allogenic bone and amnion grafts to support periodontal regeneration, making state-of-the-art care more widely available.
Dr. Arundeep is a prolific contributor to dental literature, with over 110 publications in indexed journals and 12 chapters in academic books. She is a sought-after speaker and has delivered numerous lectures at national and international conferences, sharing her expertise with peers around the world.
Her dedication to excellence in education, patient care, and institutional development continues to inspire students, colleagues, and the dental community at large.
